Buy Worship in Islam by Syed Abul Ala Maududi, a profound and enlightening work that presents a deep study of Islamic spirituality, worship (Ibadah), and its transformative role in both personal and social life.
This remarkable book explores the true nature and significance of worship in Islam, going far beyond rituals and formal acts of devotion. Maududi explains how worship shapes not only the soul but also society, highlighting its powerful role in building character, discipline, justice, and a balanced Islamic social order.
With special focus on the concepts of Tawhid (Oneness of Allah), Risalah (Finality of Prophethood), and Ibadah (Worship), the book offers a complete understanding of how Islam connects faith with everyday life. It pays particular attention to Salah (Prayer) and Sawm (Fasting) and explains how these acts of worship contribute to the development of Islamic personality and moral strength.
The distinguishing feature of Maududi’s approach is his emphasis on the social dimension of worship. Rather than limiting worship to personal purification and rituals, he shows how true worship transforms communities, strengthens social responsibility, and influences economic, political, and moral life.
Presenting a holistic vision of Islam, the author argues that Islamic teachings provide practical solutions to many of the social, economic, and political problems faced by humanity today. His approach makes this book highly relevant for both personal spiritual growth and understanding Islam as a complete system of life.
Edited and translated into accessible English by Ahmad Imam Shafaq Hashemi, with an introduction by Professor Anis Ahmad, this authoritative work is valuable for students, scholars, and anyone interested in contemporary Islamic thought.
